New winter ticket prices for the Acropolis

Acropolis winter prices

If you’re planning to visit the Acropolis of Athens this winter, be prepared for a small but important change: tickets will remain at the full price of €30 all year round.

In previous years, winter visitors enjoyed reduced entry fees — usually around €10 — from November to March. It was one of the best times to explore the Parthenon and the ancient citadel without the summer crowds and at a lower cost. However, starting this winter season, the Greek Ministry of Culture has ended the winter discount and introduced a single, flat rate for all months.

The decision is part of a wider reform in ticketing policies across Greece’s archaeological sites and museums. Officials say the change will make the system simpler and fairer, while aligning Acropolis ticket prices with other major European attractions. The extra revenue is also expected to help preserve the monuments and improve the visitor experience, especially as the Acropolis continues to welcome record numbers of travelers each year.

Although the general admission price now stays the same, some benefits remain. Reduced tickets are still available for students, seniors, and EU citizens under certain conditions. Free-entry days — such as the first Sunday of each month during the winter — will also continue, giving budget travelers an opportunity to experience the Acropolis without cost.

So, while you’ll no longer find cheaper winter Acropolis tickets, visiting during the colder months still has its advantages: smaller crowds, cooler weather, and the same unforgettable views over Athens.
